In his speech, Hong Gang introduced to the freshmen the wonderful presentation of Hangzhou in the G20 Summit and how ZISU teachers and students won wide acclaim from the society with their professional services to G20 Hangzhou Summit. Hong Gang pointed out that the victorious holding of summit will become a new starting point towards the internationalization of Hangzhou, and ZISU will embark on a new journey to comprehensively improve the level of educational internationalization.

About how to be an open and inclusive ZISUer, Hong Gang requires students to do at least three points: first, to possess an open mind. The students are in the open era, which is the era of entrepreneurship, and innovation of the public. The open era need an open eye, a change of the mindset, and the boldness for innovation. Only if students always open eyes to see the world, it is possible for them to reach the new realm of life, and create a new world together. Second, students need to gain open knowledge. To be a ZISUer, one needs to keep an upright learning attitude and have a thorough understanding of both western and Chinese knowledge. As a multi-cultural and multi-language university, students should keep an open, tolerant and inclusive attitude, uphold an open and developmental pursuit, absorb and assimilate the essence of Chinese tradition and foreign culture, which is also the inner requirement of “erudition” of university motto. At the same time, the rapid development of the society also change our knowledge rapidly, thus students should keep a lifelong learning, and always walk in the forefront of social development. Third, students need to develop an open mind. In the road of pursuing of one’s dream, beside from flowers and applause, there will be rain and challenges. Each person will have different environment and opportunity as well as different difficulties and challenges, no matter where these students are and under what kind of situation, Hong Gang hope they could have an open, positive and healthy attitude of the world and life.
