The 6th International Conference on Han Characters Education and Research was held in ZISU


Recently, the 6th International Conference on Han Characters Education and Research hosted by ZISU was grandly opened in small auditorium. President Hong Gang and 160 delegates from countries and regions like South Korea, Japan, Singapore, the United Kingdom, mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan attended this conference. Vice president Jin Yuncheng presided over the opening ceremony.
Hong Kong expressed a warm welcome to the distinguished guests on behalf of ZISU, and briefly introduced the historical overview, talent cultivation, professional settings, faculty, and international cooperation of ZISU. He pointed out that this conference is an international platform for Chinese characters research and Chinese characters education.
Experts around the world gathered together to exchange and discuss issues of Chinese characters research and Chinese characters Education, which is a meaningful and meritorious act, and it will have significant value in the promotion of Chinese characters culture. This conference is also a grand meeting on the academic exchanges of Chinese characters education and research. Although it lasted a short period of only three days, academic results are rich due to the gathered experts. It will further enhance the overall academic standard of Chinese characters education and research,and will play a positive role in promoting Chinese Language Teaching and Research, Chinese and foreign cultural promotion and communication, training of professionals, and construction of key disciplines of ZISU. It is more of a stage to show the overall outcomes of Chinese characters education and research. The conference advocates academic equality, freedom and interaction, and conducted an all-round display of outcomes of Chinese characters education and research through academic lectures, special reports and other means.
The chairman Prof. Wang Chao reported the preparation of this international conference on behalf of the organizing committee. Professor Li Guoying, the director of Research Center for Folklore, Classics and Chinese characters of BNU, delivered the opening speech. Four professors delivered congratulatory speech respectively, they are Prof. Kim Wang-kwe, the chairman of Korean Society of Chinese characters education, Prof. Xie Xijin, director of CACLER( Center for Advancement of Chinese Language Education and Research) of Hong Kong University, Prof Zhong Zhencheng, head of Graduate Institute of Teaching Chinese as a Second/Foreign language of National Kaohsiung Normal University, and Prof. Tian Benna from Tianjin Normal University. It is reported that the International Conference on Han Characters Education and Research is a top academic conference on Chinese characters and Chinese characters education worldwide, with features of uniqueness, academic authority and extensive content. In order to strengthen the links and exchanges between countries and regions like mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea, Research Center for Folklore, Classics and Chinese characters of BNU, CACLER, and Department of Chinese of Quemoy University jointly launched this conference in 2010. This conference was jointly undertaken by Zhejiang Provincial Training Center for Teachers and Educational Administrators and School of Chinese Studies of ZISU, which is also the first conference on Chinese characters and Chinese characters education held in Zhejiang Province.
