Pro-consul General for Mexico in Shanghai Visited ZISU


Recently, a party from the Consulate General of Mexico in Shanghai visited ZISU, including Gabriel Terrés, pro-consul general, Emmanuel Chávez, cultural consul, and Chang Weiping, commissioner for cultural and educational affairs. Hong Gang, president of ZISU, interviewed the guests in the presence of the heads from College of Chinese Language and Culture,College of International Business Administration, College of International Exchange and Cooperation, and School Library, ZISU.


During the interview, Hong Gang gave a brief introduction to the history and characteristics of ZISU, highlighting the specialty of Spanish, the Instituteof Latin America, and the exchanges with some institutions of higher educationin Mexico in recent years. Hong pointed out that ZISU has been vigorously implementing a development strategy with its own characteristics, in which an“international strategy” has been put on the agenda. In addition, Hong added that ZISU would like to take advantage of its professional and academic strengths to serve the educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Mexico in a better way.


Gabriel Terrés appreciated the efforts ZISU has made in respect of the cultivation of Spanish talents and the promotion of educational exchanges and cooperation between the two parties. He said that the people’s exchanges between China and Mexico could date back to as early as 500 years ago, and that this year marked the 42nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the second year of the establishment of comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, which should beregarded as an indicator of the mutual expectation and the promising prospects of the bilateral exchanges and cooperation in economy, trade, culture, art and education. Furthermore, he stressed that the youth exchange was one of the maintasks of Consulate General and the donated books were intended for the promotion of understanding of Mexico by both teachers and students in ZISU.Last but not least, he promised that Consulate General of Mexico in Shanghai would be duty-bound to support the cultivation of Spanish talents and the development of the Institute of Latin America in ZISU, in the hope of promotingthe in-depth cooperation between ZISU and Mexican universities.


After the interview, Hong Gong and the guests paid a cordial visit to the Chinese Bridge Mexico March Break Camp mission, who came here for study and exchange.
